1 YEAR BEFORE PROCEDURE:
- If you're taking Accutane, Tazorac or any similiar medications and are interested in getting permanent makeup done, it's important that you stop 1 year before.
30 DAYS BEFORE PROCEDURE:
- AVOID Retinols (also avoid 30 days AFTER procedure) *near procedure area
- AVOID Anti-aging creams (also avoid 30 days AFTER procedure) *near procedure area
- AVOID Botox, Dysport or any other fillers on forehead and around your mouth *near procedure area only
- AVOID Glycolic treatments
- AVOID Laser Treatments on face
- AVOID Chemical peels on face
- AVOID all facials
- (LIPS ONLY) Exfoliate no more than once per week leading up to appointment. Sugar and honey work great for exfoliating lips. DO NOT over exfoliate the lips. Keep lips hydrated daily with good quality lip balm. Any lip balm containing Shea Butter is great or using Aquaphor on lips works great as well
- (LIPS ONLY) AVOID long-wear lip makeup as this will dry out your lips
- (LIPS ONLY) AVOID lip filler for 4 weeks prior to your procedure. Lip filler 5 weeks prior to procedure is ok
1 WEEK BEFORE PROCEDURE:
- AVOID facials
- AVOID extensive sun exposure
- AVOID ibuprofen, aspirin (Tylenol is ok to take)
- AVOID fish oils and DHA supplements
- AVOID supplements with Cayenne Pepper or Turmeric
- AVOID vitamin E
- AVOID niacin
- AVOID marijuana/smoking
*If any of the above are taken for medical reasons please consult with your doctor prior to scheduling your appointment
- (LIPS ONLY) ONLY IF prone to cold sores, take cold sore/herpes medication (doctor prescribed or over the counter such as Acyclovir, Zovirax) to help minimize/avoid any possible breakouts *suggestion only - take at your own risk/discretion
1-3 DAYS BEFORE PROCEDURE:
- (EYEBROWS ONLY) AVOID eyebrow tint
- AVOID alcohol *1 glass of alcohol is ok but avoid red wine
- AVOID coffee *1 cup is ok
- AVOID excessive amounts of caffeine
- (LIPS ONLY) CONSUME Arnica internally to help prevent bruising (Suggestion only - take at your own risk/discretion)
- (LIPS ONLY) exfoliate gently and keep hydrated
DAY OF PROCEDURE:
- AVOID high intensity workout within 3 hours prior to procedure and no high intensity workouts for 10 days after
- (EYEBROWS ONLY) wearing eyebrow makeup or any face makeup is ok to wear to appointment
- (LIPS ONLY) wear lip balm. AVOID lip color, including tinted lip balm
WHAT TO EXPECT POST PROCEDURE SO YOU CAN PLAN AHEAD...
No makeup on procedure area for 2 weeks following ALL permanent makeup procedures.
EYEBROWS: Eyebrows will not be dark and scary. Slightly darker yes but still presentable. Eyebrows usually scab day 4-6 following procedure which is typically the least desirable phase. Hair strokes are typically less or not noticeable while scabbing. Powder brows tend to be the most noticeable while scabbing. Eyebrow makeup make be applied 2 weeks following the procedure.
LIPS: Lips will be sensitive and extremely swollen immediately following procedure. Swelling subsides by at least 50% within a few hours following procedure. Lips should be back to normal size by day 3 but will continue to be sensitive. Peeling usually begins around day 4..
